JOHNSONVILLE TOWN BOARD
♦ — Mr. A. A. Moore presided over a meeting of the Johnsonville Town Board last evening. The Unemployment Commissioner wrote expressing thanks for the information forwarded, concerning supervision on relief works. In this connection, Commissioner Carman stated that he had heard there was ground for complaint. The complainant was a responsible man, and had pointed out that the local committee had power to stand a man down for two weeks if he was unsatisfactory. There were two or three men who were causing trouble. Ths chairman said that the overseer had definite instructions to put off any man who was not satisfactory. The matter was referred to the Works Committee. The Works Committee reported , that the road from Prospect terrace to Hill street was practically completed, and the men were now working in Bannister avenue. Plans for the proposed work in Haumai street were being prepared, and the men would be put on this work when available. The committee will require an additional £40 for maintenance of the Children's Park. ' -
