Tho reaction against eccentric house decoration grows apace, and the Queen's choice of several varieties of chintz for Buckingham Palace, Sandringham, and Windsor will mean that we shall all be considering chintz this spring, says a London writer. One of its advantages was pointed out to a friend by the Prince of Wales, when he was furnishing his house at Sunningdale—" Dogs' hairs don't stick to it." A material chosen by Queen Mary though is far removed from tho simplicity of chintz. It is a marvellous thick, brocaded satin for' her own sitting-room at Windsor. The background is a soft lichen green, and it is patterned in enormous brown wicker baskets, full of delicate sprays of pale pink and lavender blue blossoms.
