CASES OF DISTRESS
FOOD FOR NEEDY FAMILIES
The numbers of persons applying for food at the Mayor's Distress Belief Fund depot—the old Milk Depot, Dixon street—have now increased to over a hundred daily. It is estimated that assistance is being given to 2000 persons. Those seeking aid aTe mostly the mothers and fathers of families of from, two to six children. An appeal is made by Mr.. Henderson, who is in charge of the 4ep°t> f°r supplies of vegetables, fruit, grocerios, and other foodstuffs, suitable for families of young children. The officers distributing the food stale that there are many cases of mothers with young children who are in genuine want of food, and citizens sending in supplies may rest assured that their gifts are sorely needed.
