The cabled figures showing the leading first-class averages do not indicate the number of occasions On which the batsmen were unbeaten, and they, give the averages in only round figures. Applying the cabled figures to make the table more complete, it is found that there is an error so far as Suteliffo is concerned.. If his aggregate is correct his average works out at a little over 101 per completed innings. The average- are no doubt for all first-class matches-' up to those completed on Friday.
