(Special to The Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. "Although the interior 'of China, like the large coastal provinces, is very much disturbed at the present time, the country is undergoing many rapid changes/? remarked Dr. H. W. K. Mowll, Anglican Bishop of 'Western China, who arrived at Auckland by the Monowai. "In the city of Cheng-Tu, headquarters of my dioceso, which is the third i largest city in China," he continued,; "the age of modernisation has begun, and where one formerly travelled in aj sedan chair along narrow paths, one ] now rides in a motor-car along fine: broad highways through a city excel-; lently served with electric light and j other modern conveniences." Dr. Mowll is making a short stay in New Zealand, and before returning to China will pay a visit to several churches in Australia which have sent missionaries to North China.
