Mr. George D. Ashton, M.A., who isi oii tho teaching staff at Linwooi Avenue School, Christchurch, will'leave! on Thursday for England, on exchange' for a year with a teacher frora one of) the schools of tho London County Council. . Mr. Ashton served as a pupil teacher for two years at tho Timaru: Main School, and after passing through! Christchurch Training College, ho taught at the Richmond, Waimataitai, and Stewart Island Schools, before taking up his present position in Christchurch. Under the terms of the exchange ha will teach "for a year in London, but;' he is not obliged to return to the, Dominion immediately afterwards. He ii permitted by. tho Education Department to extend his absence, provided ho xeports' again for duty in New Zealand inside two years.
