MONEY IN MELBOURNE
MELBOURNE, 9th July. Loan interest rates have eased to a marked extent in Melbourne within the past few weeks. Largo sums, it is reported, are being offered at 4 per cent., which is the lowest figure for ordinarybusiness credits for several years. Some banks in tho meanwhile are not encouraging further additions to their deposits, this being merely a matter of temporary policy. The "Victorian Governments' deficit for the year is £2,500,000.
