PLEASANT FUNCTION
LADY SIDEY'S RECEPTION Theie was a largo and veiy pleasant gathering of Parliamentary and local people at the large leception'ioom at tho old Parliamentary Buildings j ester clay afternoon when Lady Sidey was "At Home" there. Tho 100 m was charmingly arranged with greeneiy, drapmgs, and palms, while all,the tables were decoiated"with beautiful Iceland poppies and' brown biich in crystal vases, the centre table' having a large, bowl of beautiful itisas. Tho colour scheme was most 'attractive. Great ploasuio was given duung the after noon 'by the gendering of several songs by Mrs. Large (Napiei), who was .ie eompanied by her husband, and -whose One voice was much appreciated. Lady Sidey, who recoived at the mam entrance, was in a smartly cut gown of black clufion, velvet, with touches of white, and handsome fox furs and a small black hat.' Both Legislative Council and "Lower House" were well lepresented, the members of the latter bomg lecalled now and then by an indistent "division bell," which^ looked as if things were moving iff '^another place." The Ministers' wxves pi«sent included Mesdamet. Forbes, Ransom, ,Voitch, Stalhvoithy, and S.. G. Smith. Mis. Mark Hambourg was picsent,.also Mrs. 3. G.
