SOME USEFUL GALLOPS
Some interesting gallops were done at Riccarton, on Tuesday by horses with engagements' at Trentham ou Saturday or on the final days next week. The outside of the trial grass provided excellent going after overnight frost.
Rose of Orange, the two-year-old halfsister by Arausio to Ephialtes and defunct Lord Thomond, sprinted half a mile attractively. in 50sec. She is engaged pn. the .second and third days at TrenthamV .arid,she,.should.race well. Winsome Hind and Zeebrugge were companions'oyer six'furlougs. Winsome Hind, who was on the move at the; start,- quickly; gamed 'an advantage of several ftlengthsft Zeebrugge was close behind- her a furlongfrom tho winning-post, but Winsome Hind drew away again, finishing three lengths in front. Her time was lmin' :17 2-ssec, with the last half-mile in 51sec, a smart performance.
