Since yesterday tho extensive cyclone' willed lias been covering New Zealand has developed two eenircs, one having passed to the eastwards during tlie night, while another Is still located west of Cook Strait. Strong northevly winds have continued over the Auckland Peninsula, but elsewhere south-easterlies or southerlies have predominated, blowing with gale force in places north of Greymouth and Akavoa. Conditions have been unsettled everywhere, with general rain, heavy falls In the central provinces, on the'east coast of the-North Island and in Westlatid causing floods in many of the rivers. In the southern half of the South Island, however, falls hove been chiefly light and by 9 a.m. to-day the weather had greatly Improved in Otago and Southland.
