RATEPAYERS' ASSESSOR.

A public meeting of ratepayers will be held at the Town; Hall to-morrow morning, at 9.30, to elect a ratepayers' assessor for the City Assessment Court. Until recently two assessors were appointed by the Government and City Council, respectively, but as it was "claimed: that as the interests of these bodies were more or "less bound up in keeping property values on a high level,: and Chat the Court was thereby loaded against the interests of the ratepayer, it is now provided that ratepayers themselves shall elect one of the assessors. Mr. E.; Bold, one of the nominated candidates, and for very many years a land officer in-the Government service, solicits the ratepayers' votes for Appointment to.this position.
