ATTEMPTING SAME RUN?
Water Power, the fourth member-of IV T. Hogan's team, is a three-year-old chestnut filly by Tractor, from the Downshire mare Charybdis. To date she has won only a couple of races, but she has shown considerable promise in some of her outings. Apparently ability to stay on is her forte, for: at Ashburton ten days ago she xan third to Punchestown and Semper Par-' atus over a mile and a quarter. At Oamaru last Saturday she was scratched for a similar event, but was started later on in the day iin a hack sprint, in which she looked the winner till she compounded half-way down the straight. Being a stayer rather than a pure sprinter she was unable :to see six furlongs through at top all the way, which was what her rider asked.her to do. More patiently handled, slio is a prospect for the Te Aro Hack Handicap, seven furlongs, on Saturday. This -was the race that her sfciblemate, -.Town "Blajjqr,. started off with last year, and the stable -is evidently relying on her Lo emulate the performance.
