LODGE MEETINGS

A visit was: received from District Council officers in charge of Bro. Ryde, District Master. During the evening Bro. G. Laurenson. was installed as V.G. Visitors wero received with lodge honours. Star of Newtown Branch, G.U.0.0.F., held its usual meeting last week, Sister ( Murphy, N.G., presiding and Sister Griffiths, P.N.G.i supervising. There was a good attendance of members and visitors. Four new members were initiated by branch officers. During the evening a visit was received from the District Council officers, together with Bro. Ryde, District Master. Sister Norton was installed as Vice Grand, Sister Harnor as Warden, Sister Browne as Recording Secretary,' Sister O'Connell as Outer. Guardian, and Sister Watson as R.S.V.G. The installations were carried out by the district officers. The Newtown Alpha Branch, G.U.0.---0.F., held its usual meeting last week, Bro. Blair, ;V.G., presiding and Bro. Barnett, P.N.G., ■ supervising. Several visitors were present. Bro. Bradstock, Grand • Secretary, and Bro. Ryde, District Master, were among the visitors, allbeing welcomed by branch members. • Bro. JDandy was selected as N.G. .and Bro. •Knight as P.N.G.," both officers being installed by the District Master. Two members were reported on the sick list, andj payment was passed accordingly. Harmony concluded: a pleasant evening. 'The fortnightly meeting of Loyal .'>Villiam~Bain Branch, G.U.0.0.F., was held last Thursday, Bro. Harnor, N.G., presiding- and Bro. Brooker, P.N.G., supervising. During ■ the evening the branch received an official visit from members of Miramar branch. The visitors were accorded lodge honours. One sickness account was passed for payment. At the close of the meeting dancing and cards were indulged'in by the members. Loyal Central Branch, Grand United Order of Oddfellows, held its meeting last Thursday, Bro. Weldon, N.G., presiding, and Bro. , Cooper, P.N.G., supervising. There was a good attendance. The following P.N.G.'s were" present:—Sister Ryde, Sister Hooper, Bros. Ryde, Slynes, Ede, Cooper, M'Queen, Norton, Hooper, and Casey. Three members were reported on the, sick' roll, and payment was passed accordingly. An official visit was received from the newly-formed Arahina branch at Johnsonville, 'and were welcomed with lodge honours.. Harmony concluded a, pleasant evening.
