A CORDIAL PARTY

FARMERS" WIVES ENTER-.

TAIN

There was another largo gathering of women last evening at the Pioneer Club, when the Wellington' Division of the Women's Division of tho New Zealand Farmers' Union entertained tho visiting delegates to the present conference . very pleasantly. Tho rooms were decorated with flowers and greenery, and tho largo lounge was bright and warm, while there was naturally no lack of conversation, as so many, were gathered together with plenty of mutual interests. There was an artistic little programme given, which began with a Mendelssohn Concerto by Miss Goodson (piano), Miss Prue Lewis (violin), and Miss Leah' Haughton ('cello), which was heartily applauded. Mrs.. Spidy sang two songs delightfully, accompanied by her daughter, and later Mrs. Goodson also gave great pleasure with a "Song Cycle," also accompanied by her daughtor. Miss Marshall (Wanganui) gave two enjoyable recitations. ■■'~.• Supper was set in the club diningroom, the long table being centred by an appropriately decorated - birthday cake, with the six candles showing the age of the division.' It was cut with ceremony, and proved, to be quite worthy of the occasion. Mrs. L. Ward and Mrs. M'Neil, members of. tho- Wellington Division, received tho guests, and on the stage were Mrs. "0. C. Jackson. (Dominion president), Mrs.HJ. W. Forbes, Mrs. L. W.ar.d (hon. secretary of the Wellington Division), Mrs. Wickham, and Mrs. Banaom. Miss Kane (president of the club) was a guest of honour, "both iv the evening and-at the opening ceremony in the morning. Mrs. S. Myers, Mrs. Pow, Mrs. Natusch, and others assisted in the entertaining, and all tho guests were made to £eel how welcome they were at the club and in Wellington. Tho privileges of the club have been extended to all while they are in Wellington. After supper tho guests returned to the lounge, and the party wenton till a fairly late hour. , ;
