METHYLATED SPIRITS
THEFT BY ADDICTS
A' sentence of 21 days' imprisonment tvas imposed on Henry Hxibert Silk, labouerer, aged 40, and John M. M'Mabon, n seaman, by Mr. E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day for stealing a bottle of methylated spirits valued at Is 6d, the property of Messrs. R. and E. Tingey. Silk was also fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment, for a fourth offence of drunkenness, and M'Mahon was convicted and discharged for a first oifence.
Chris. T. Edwards said he was delivering goods in Taranaki street yesterday afternoon when he saw the two accused standing near his lorry. When he had gone some distance up the street he found that a bottle of methylated spirits was mis*hig from a crate. He then went back ■and saw the two accused; Silk was holding the bottle in his hand.
"Tliey ore both methylated spirits addicts," Kaid Senior-Sergeant Edwards, "and on the last three or four occasions Silk lias been before the Court for drunkenness it has bp.en the result of. paeUiylatcd spirits.
