Mr. Handley has stood foremost among New Zealand studmastcrs in recent years. Even now that his connection with the Elderslie Stud is severed, ho has lost none of his keen interest in the progress that the horses he bred are making, and he has during the past weok visited stables at Trentham that are sheltering youngsters sold at the last sales. He lias now finally handed over the reins to his successor, Mr. K. Austin. Sportsmen throughout the Dominion will wish Mr.. Handley and his wife an excellent trip to the'Old Land. Ho leaves these shores well, assured that the' work he has done towards the. improvement of the New Zealand/thoroughbred will never: be forgotten1; .for he. has established and founded racing families that are likely toplay a prominent part ■in pedigrees forvery many generations to come..
