Most recent report to hand (21st ■ May) shows that Barnevoldt shared ; with the filly, Brulette, the post of early 1 favouritism for the Grand Prix. Up till ; that date, as a three-year-old, Barne--1 veldt had won the Prix Miss Gladiator and the Prix Daru, and Brulette had ' scored a remarkably easy victory in the 1 Prix Penelope. Subsequently Brulette i captured the English Oaks at JBpsom 1 on sth June, beating the One Thousand ■ Guineas winner, Four Course. Banje- ■ veldt, though bred in France, is typic- ■ ally British in origin, as he claims The Winter King, who was by Son-in-Law 1 from the Derby winner,' Signorinetta, as his sire, and is from Black Domino ;(a half-sister to Dominion and , Phanarite), by the St. Leger winner, Black Jester, from Osyrua, by Desmond. Black Domino was sold, for .export to France, at the December sales of 1923 for 400 1 .guineas.
