SOUTH ISLAND LINE
BOAItf) TO INQUIRE
STATEMENTS SOLICITED
An important announcement affecting the railway now under construction' between Wharanui and Parnassus (South Island Main Trunk) is advertised by the Railway Board.
The board intends to make a report on that railway, and will be willing to receive statements regarding tho line that any person or organisation may wish to make, such statements' to be sent to the General Manager by, 30th June. It is expected that the Railway Board will mako a personal visit to the district shortly. While nothing definite is stated, it is considered" in railway circles that the visit of the board and tho preparation of a report foreshadow a reopening of the question! of tho completion of the South Island Main Trunk. It is thought that the action now being taken is to secure the latest information, in the . light" of changes and changed conditions, so that the board may approach the;question ' with an open mind.
