. Ilkley .showed useful form at the Dunedin. Meeting, where he was second, to Tea TJrn. There may not be much between this pair. Both of them read better than Tippling on their latest running, though on some earlier form Tippling is worth attention. Homecoming may do better in •this ; Tace than anything he has shown in recent track gallops. Whatnot is a speedy non-stayer, but jt is worth remembering that this'.is',not.a-.strong. field.. Ballade, won in good style early'in the season, and should improve. Sandown, however,"- makes strong appeal after last week's form! at Aflhbnrton, where he failed only at the finish: of a mile and a half. A repetition of that effort will keep his opponents busy. Lily Bingeu raced well in the sama erent, and is a possibility. Bracken was another who competed in the Ashburton race. She tangled early, bnt later showed plenty of pace.
