WELLINGTON CLUB
The 45th annual report of the Wellington Bowling Club, Ltd., to be presented at the annual meeting on Wednesday, 24th June, states that satisfactory progress has been accomplished during the year.
Bad ,weather marred the season, however, and matches were greatly delayed. In the Senior Pennant games the club was unsuccessful, gaining only 58 per cent., whereas the winners obtained 68 per cent. Wellington Club was fourth on the list. The centre champion of champions pairs competition was won by two of the club's members, Messrs. W. Parkhouse and J. Porteous.
Regret is expressed at the death of Messrs. S. S. Williams and A. Lawson, to whose families the sympathy of the club members is extended.
The recent severe illness of .the hon. treasurer, Mr. I. Salek, is referred to and the hope expressed that he will have speedily regained his health. Mention is made of revival of the competition for the Bush Ferns, presented many years ago by Mr. T. Bush. Hearty thanks are extended ■to Mr. H. G. Mayer for, the trouble he went to ,to write up the history of the Duthie Cup.' ;The report concludes by referring "to the attention given to the green and the treatment that is proposed to be applied between now and the opening of the next seapon.
The following nominations have been received for the official positions in the club:—President, Mr. R.. M. Roberts; vice-president, Mr. A. Lulham; hon. secretary, Mr. C. Bary; hon. treasurer, -Mr. I. Salek; five directors, Messrs. W. Perry, E. M'Kenzie, A. Simpson, J. Hunter, and W. H. Bennett; election committee (eleven members), Messrs. H. Brice, A. Erskine, G. S. Hill, Captain T. T. Hugo, L. Ledger, J. 'O'Donnell, W. A. Parton, R. Petersen, S. Potter, W. J. Thompson, and LJ Goldfinch.
