It is filling, therefore, that this special issue of "Tlje Evening Po<j" ivhich synchronises with the livenly-ninlh National Dairy Show at Pulmeiston Noilh, should relate to the daiiy industry.

The Manawalu district has always occupied a prominent place in agricultural and pastoral a (fain, and within its boundaiies practically every agricultural inleiest it> successfully represented. It, is not surpiising lo find that in this district, ivhich is one of the oldest settled in New Zealand, and where the foundations ivere solidly laid, progress has been rapid and interesting. Facts speak for themselves, and fads relating lo dairy produce manufactured 'in the Manawalu indeed show hoiv the district has piogressed.

Side by side iui/,h tjie growth of the country, Palmcrslon North has expanded till now it ranks as one of the cities of New Zealand, and one of the leading, if not the most impoitant, inland centres in the Dominion. As japid as has been the development of the district, its potential iveallh means still greater advancement, hs piesent position has been achieved by careful administration in all phases, and ihe foundations have been laid for further advancement from the hands of those who are yet to guide its destinies.
