CANNOT STARVE

PEOPLE MUST HAVE FOOD

ONUS ON POLITICIANS

, (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") DUNEDIN, This Day. Tho Mayor of Duncdin, Mr. 11. S. Black, on his "return from Wellington, said that he told the Prime Minister that the, local bodies had no means whatever to cany on the task of providing for such a tremendous number of people. He told Mr. Forbes frankly j that if a war started to-morrow tho Government -would find the means to buy ammunition. It was surely more important to buy food to keep the people alive instead of starving. Personally he thought Mr. Forbes, Mr. Coates, and Mr. Holland should sink their.party differences and call Parliament together before 25th. June. These three should in the meantime take the, responsibility of continuing tho No. 5 scheme.
