N.Z. ALLIANCE

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

During the final session of the annual meeting of the New Zealand Alliance, the Rev. J. E. Blanchard was unanimously elected to succeed the retiring president, the Rev. W. J. Comrie.

In connection with Mr. Comrie, the following resolution -"was adopted:—"That this annual meeting of the New Zealand Alliance records its deep appreciation .of the lifelong service, rendered to the Prohibition cause by the Rev. W. J. Gornrie and especially of his'iiivaluable.aid during two terms as president; it rejoices to "know that whilst laid aside at present he hopes soon to be able to take his place as heretofore in the front-rank of our forces."

Mr. F. A. Feist, who for a number of years has been honorary treasurer, having expressed a wish to-retire-from that oflice, the meeting adopted the following resolution: "That this annual meeting places on record its admiration of the lifetime of service given to the Prohibition movement by Mr. F. A. Feist, and expresses its very hearty thanks to him for valuable services rendered over a number of years, as honorary treasurer; to unstinting labour lie has added personal generosity and tenacity under very trying conditions; the meeting rejpices to know that in .retiring from the position of treasurer Mr. Feist will continue to be closely associated with the movement."

Mr. A. H. Ivory, LL.B., A.P.A.N.Z., was unanimously elected hop. treasurer. The following were the vice-presidents elected:—Messrs. F. B. Adams, H. S. Adams, A. K. Atkinson, J. S. Baxter, C. Bellringer, Bishop F. Bennett, the Yen. Archdeacon Chatterton, Rev. J. Cocker, Rev. W. J. Comrie, Commissioner Cunningham (S.A.), L. E. Falkner, F. A. Feist, F. Ferriman, Sir G. Fowlds, Hon. •J. B. Gow, M.L.C., Hon. A. P. Hawke, W. J. Helyer, W. D. Hunt, Hon L. M. .Isitt, M.L.C., A. R. Laidlaw, C. M. Luke, T. 11. Macky, J. M'Combs, M.P., Rev. J. Paterson; H. E. Pacey, the Hon.' A. J. Stallworthy, D. G. Sullivan,' M.P. The following; were elected members of the Standing Committee: Messrs. F. C. Spratt, A. R. Atkinson, F. A. Feist, W. ,T. Helyer, W. D. Hunt, C. R. Edmond, Rev. T. W. Vealie, Hon. L. M. Isitt, M.L.C.. Eev. H. J. Odell, W. S. Bruce, S. T. S. Martin. Lieut.-Colonel Burton, Mrs. Peryman, Rev. J. Hubbard. Votes of thanks to hosts and hostesses, the officers of the meeting, secretaries, reporters, and doorkeeper, and especially to the general secretary, were adopted.
