Captain and Mrs. Alan Campbell,' India, arrived in Wellington thjs morning liy tho Makura from Sydney, and arc the guests of Mrs. Campbell's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Marchbanks, Hobaon street. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Wood, Christchurch, are paying a holiday visit to the North Island. ] Mrs. Erie Bayley loft Wellington yesterday for Palmcrston North, where she will live for a year on her son's farm. Mrs. Bayley has let her flat on The Terrace to Mrs. J. Brodie. Mrs. Wilfrid White, Levels, South Canterbury, who has been the guest of her sister and brother-in-law, Canon and Mrs. Percival James, Bblton street, has returned to the South Island. Miss Elisabeth Cole and Miss Kuth Good, Melbourne, who have been visiting Wellington, left this morning for a short visit to Gisborne and Botorua. Miss Mary Maclean will leave Wellington' on Wednesday to join her mother, Mrs. Erie Bayley, at Palrnerston North. Lady Sidey left Wellington for the South Island on evening. Mrs. George Edwardß, who came to New Zealand from India to visit her father, Mr. J. Gibson Stott, Wellington, is now the guest of Mrs. D. V. Donaldson, Cashmero Hills, Christchurch.- .'.'., . Dr. and Mrs. John Hosking, Wellington, are spending the winter months at Samoa. . .. / Mrs. E. P. Levien has returned to Wellington after a motor tour to Auckland and Kotorua,. Mrs. Alan. Avery, Napier, who has been visiting hor mother, Mrs. Charles Beadel, Christchurch, has returned to the North Island. ■ Mr. and Mrs. Langford, Hokitika, are staying at the Boyal Oak Hotel. Miss Kennedy, ■Wellington, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Huntly Eliott, Christchurch. Mrs, T. G. Lewis has returned to Christchurch after a visit to the North. Island. Mrs. T. N. Holden, Eemuera, Auckland, is visiting Wellington. Mrs. G. J. Hicks returned to Wellington this morning by the Makura after a visit to England. Miss M. M'Douall, of the staff of Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Sydney; accompanied by her niece, arrived by the Makura this morning en route to Rarotonga. Miss Ewart, Wellington, ..is visiting Auckland. Mrs. G. H. Bassant, Wellington, is spending a few days in Auckland. Dr. Mary Beadon has been appoiuted from England to be head of the Lady Hardinge College of New Delhi, the most ■ important women's hospital in India, and the only one which trains women, for medical degrees. Tor the first time, a woman who has. rendered service to engineering has been mentioned in tho honours list. Miss Caroline Haslett, secretary of the Women's Engineering Society and Director of the Electrical Association for Women, has been made a Companion of the Order of the British Empire.
