Ollicers of., tha Wellington Polico Force wore present at' a function at the Potoiic Polico Court .last evening to bid farewell to Senior-Sergeant M'Kelvey, the popular chief'of 'tho Petono Station, and Mrs., M'.Kelvey, who; are .leaving shortly to take up their residence in. Auckland. Tho Senior-Sergeant, who is retiring ,from the. Forco after many years? service, was the- recipient of a travelling rug given -ou behalf of tho Petono PplicQ,. and a dressing gown from his .old comrades, stationed at Wellington, Mrs. M'Kelvey was nro- : sented with a handsome salad- bowl and i a biscuit barrel. Superintendent Knierson said they ' all wore sorry, to loab Scaior-Scrgcaut . M'Kelvey from the Force, as ho was a ' man greatly respected- throughout New '■ Zealand. Personally he had never had had a better man to deal withor a moro ! energetic worker than the Scnior-Ser-i geant. • His record with tho Police : Force would compare favourably with any other member, and he had more re-: 1 cords of merit against his. name than ■ anyone he knew of.
