LATE DR. M'LEAN
MILITARY FUNERAL
The late Dr. H. J. M'Lean, Port Health Officer at Wellington, was give* a military funeral on Saturday afternoon by reason of his rank as Lieuten-ant-Colonel in the New Zealand' Medical Corps. The coffin was carried on a guncarriage, drawn by four horses, from, the Eoyal New ■ Zealand Artillery, Non-commissioned officers of the per* manent staff of the New Zealand D6= fence Force provided the firing-party. A service, conducted by the Rev. J. R.. Blanehard and the-Bow Dr. J. Gibb, was held in Dr. M'Lean's late resi» dence, 56, Mulgrave street, before tha funeral. The chief mourners were Mr. Duncan M' Lean, of Waipawa (brother); Misses Mary and Agnes M'Leaa (sisters), Mr. D. M'Lean, Junr, (nephew), and Miss Mary M'Lean, Junr, Messrs. C. and H. Healy (halfbrothers), and Mr. Brabazon Ellis, of Christchurch (brother-in-law). Thepall* bearers were Sir Donald M'Gavin, Drs. F. T. Bowerbank and Eobert Stout, and Messrs. Arthur Seed, Brabazon Ellis, and H. and E. Healy. , All classes of the community were represented at the funeral. Those present included Sir Donald M'Gavin, Sir John Luke, Drs. J. S. Elliott, P. F. M'Evedy, Eobert Stout, H. Gilmer, A. Izard, W. J. H. Hislop, Messrs. Guy Johnston, Harold Johnston, K.G., A Gray, K.C., Frank Thompson, C.M.G., G. A. Troup, C.M.G., T. Forsyth, J. W. Macdonald (Publ'io Trustee), B. Darroch (representing tha Navy League), M. C. Barnett, C. M. Turrell, Major Watson (representing1 the Eeturned Soldiers' Association), A. Hollis, G. L. Stewart, Brigadier tireoil (representing tho Salvation Army), T. E. Corkill, Hubert Nathan, C. B. Trimnoil, C. M. Luke, T. Y. Seddon, W. Perry, A. Wylie, H. D. Thomson, G. Hall, A.
