BROOKLYN CLUB
The Brooklyn TlaT'riers held theii' run at Eastbourne. Almost perfect rinuiing conditions prevailed. Two prominent members of the Tiinirua Tramping Club, Mr. A. JST. Smith and Mr. J. A. Jiaine, laid a trail of some seven miles through Muritni up 'over the hill and down into Butterfly Creek, across the stream, and over swamps and fences; across Gollin's Valley and down the coast range of hills and the western slopes back to the starting point. Three pucks followed the trail. Both the medium and slow pack men ran well, especially Shirley and Clupshaw. Other outstanding performances were made by 11. Fraser and C, J. Kennedy. None of the "A" team are showing much form as yet, although JD. Todd appears to be settling down more quickly than others. Members were .afterwards the guests of Mr. J. B. Bibby at afternoon tea at the Eastbourne Hotel. It was pleasing to note the attendance of Mr. .A. Irvine, a vicepresident and very old club associate. Mr. N. Smellie (club captain) thanked. Mr. Bibby on behalf of his men. Mr. Bib"by replied and both speakers expressed appreciation of flic service rendered by the two members of the Tararua Tramping Club -in-.j laving an excellent trail. i Next Saturday . the club will bold, its three miles sealed handicap from the S?eatouti terminus. ■ ' '.
