BAND RECITAL.
At tiio no Luxe Theatre the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Hand gave another highly successful recital last night. The audience. Which illled the .theatre In overy part, was most enthusiastic, demanding further Items from Hie performers in every instance. Miss Violet Rohcrta, a contralto new to the local stage, made a good impression with a voice of quality in "When You're Away." The Ililo trio rendered South Sen Island melodies with mandola, guitar, and ukulele, and Mrs. Ida Bridgiirnn sang "Poatu Itau" and "Sweet IjCI Lehua." Humour was ably supplied by Mr. Owen l Jrlleliiird In- "You'll Never be Missed ft Hundred Years I'rom Now" and sundry stories. Ho aiso led the community sinKluc which has now become a. popular feature at these recitals. The audience joined with tho band In "Lead Kindly Light." Mr. Will Vermont whistled "Colonel Bogoy," accompanied by the baud, and also offered a unique entertainment entitled "Daybreak in Birdlatul." His imitations of various feathered denizens of tho hush were most realistic. "Lolita" and "Malrc, My Girl," were sunn by Mr. Nolio Toll!, much to tho delight of all. At tho Wurlltzor organ Mr. Paul T. Cullon gavo "A Trip Through the Organ" and "Strolling Thro' tho Tulips" (with vocal refrain). The former selection demonstrated the varied effects which can bo produced upon the Instrument. The band played the hymn, "Eventido," tho selection "Tho Hold Diggers of Broadway," and the march "Lyonia." Mi. J-'rank Crowtlier was the accompanist.
