BLAZE AT DANNEVIRKE
OLD TOWN THREATENED

DANNEVTRKE, This Day, Fire broke out in High street at 10 o'clock on Saturday night in the wooden, buildings at the south end of the town which escaped the big blaze of 1917. The brigade made &• good save, fortunately, being favoured with the absence of wind. The drapery shop of Mr. A. C. dimewas completely gutted and the stock lo3t. The building is owned by Mr. Gv W. Wright, of- "Wellington, and insured in the State Fire Office for £275, and New Zealand Office for £120. Mr. Curries stock was insured for £600 in the 1.0.A. Office. . Other premises affected in a minor degree are Messrs. Heakin (fruiterer), Hills (cafe), Martin (jeweller), Shire (fruiterer), and the Peoples' Butchery. An estimate of the structural damage is impossible. . Most of the loss is covered by insurance.
