A MISSING CAR
DESCRIPTION BROADCAST
LEADS TO SMART ARREST
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CAMBRIDGE, 22nd May. The disappearance from Hawera on Tuesday of a 12-passenger service car owned by Mr. Leslie Plant and valued at £900, led to the arrest here late last night of Stewart M'Millan, alias M'Kenzio, a married man, 2G years of age. M'Millan was in possession of tho vehicle. The accused appeared before Justices this afternoon and admitted unlawfully converting the car, and was sentenced to three months' hard labour. Extraordinary features of tho case wcro that the accused was allowed to take the car from Hawera on a story, admitted to be mythical, that he had been engaged to take a party on a tour of tho North Island. On Thursday night the Automobile Association sent out a broadcast description of the missing car. This was heard by the Mayor of Cambridge, Mr. C. H. Priestly, who passed the information on to the police, resulting in a smart arrest.
