FAIR TO FINE
MILDER TEMPERATURES
With a fairly intense anti-cyclone covering the Dominion, tho weather this morning was fair to fine almost generally, the only place reporting rain at 0 a.m. being Foxton. Yesterday there were passing showers on the east coast of the North Island and in the Far North, but elsewhere it was mainly fair. Since last night a slight low pressure wave has been passing to the southward, and this has caused a chango to northerly winds from New Plymouth and Castlepoint southward. Over the northern portion of the North Island, moderate to strong' southerlios were still blowing at 9 a.m. The night was very cold everywhere, and frosts were moro widespread than they have been so far this winter.
Auckland had a fine day yesterday, with a. keen southerly wind; and at Wellington a strong southerly wind was accompanied by showers during tho morning. In the afternoon, the southerly moderatod, and conditions were fair but cold; 2.6 degrees of frost were registered at the Observatory; .the rainfall was 4 points. Tho early morning at Christchurch was dull, but conditions rapidly cleared, and a fine sunny day was experienced. A hard frost occurred there last night. Dunediu also had a fine sunny day, with littlo wind. Temperatures were very cold.
The forecast is for moderate southerly winds, at first, north of Kawhia uncl Napier, but veoring later to northerlies; but elsewhere, freshening northerly winds. The weather will bo mainly fair to fine, and milder, but showers developing on Ihe wrst coast of the South Island and in the Far Smith,
