FIRST INNINGS SCORES

OPENS BADLY IN SECOND

VIVIAN IN FORM

United Tress Assoclatlbn—By Electric Tele-craph-—Copytislit. ! (Special to Press Association.) j (Received 22nd May, 10 a.m.) I LONDON, 21st May. The New Zealand cricket team's batting against Worcestershire hardly realised expectations, the visitors being dismissed in the first innings for 215. Worcestershire is the only county so far to gain a lead qver the tourists on the first innings, (he county having made 276. The visitors, with 30 runs for one wicket, continued their innings on an easy wicket. The batsmen shaped confidontly, but threo wickets fell fairly rapidly. Dempster was out early as the result of a catch by the wicket-keeper. Page punished Root's leg-theory until ho was brilliantly caught at mid-on. Kerr droVe powerfully and stylishly, and was unluckily bowled by ' a "shooter." Vivian batted most ittractively, hitting with plenty of freedom and showing his best form. He was dismissed in trying to pull a. bumping ball, which was deflected into the slips. Boot bowled very steadily after lunch. The last six wickets fell for 43 runs. Worcestershire's batting in the second innings was uninspiring. The New Zealand attack was hampered owing to Matheson having to leave the Held suffering from a strained leg muscle. Morrltt and, Vivian bowled excellently. After the dismissal of Quttifo five wickets fell for twenty runs. Details:—. WORCESTERSHIRE. First Inninga .......... .... 27(5 x Second Innings.
