Mr. 'IV E. Lang,' of Fcatherston, has. been appointed a Coroner.
Mr. P. J. O'Ecgan returned to Wellington this morning from Dunedin, where he has been attending sittings of the Court of Arbitration. A motioif of sympathy, with the relatives of Mr. F. "Hawkins, a farmer, of Makara; who died recently, was passed at a meeting of the Makara County Council to-day.
News has been received from London of the death there recently of Mr. A. J. L. Styles, eldest son of Mrs. and the" late Mr. A. Styles, of Wellington. Born in Tinakori road, Wellington, 48 years ago, the deceased was educated at Thorndon School. Soon after leaving school, he .entered the service of Messrs. Bell, Gully,; and Myers, and he remained with that firm until he went .to the war. After the Armistice he ma.rried and returned to England, entering the Service of Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd., with whom ho remained Mintil. his death". The deceased was a keen • sportsman, and was for many years secretary of the Wellington Swimming Club. His widow is in London. A sister, Mrs. S. K. Williams, lives at Whakapara.
