ESCAPE FROM GERMANY
MURDERER IN MOTOR-YACHT
NORTH SEA STATES
WARNED
BERLIN, 6th May.
The North" Sea coastal States have been notified to look out for a murderer who .daringly escaped from Germany in his own motor-yacht. The fugitive is Frederich • Jonas, a plumber, who had been posing as Count Hoheuau, a famous Americo-German chemist, and had extracted • big sums from the public, pretending that he had invented a method for tho cheap manufacture of hydrogen from water.
Though arrested for fraud, Jonas was allowed to continue his experiments at a factory at Malchow. For this purpose he motored from gaol daily, escorted by an elderly sergeant.
One day, when tho car came to tal-co Jonas and (he. sergeant back to tho prison, the sergeant was found murdered with a crowbar.
Jonas taxied to the mouth of tho Elbe, where ho put to sea in his waiting motor-yacht.
