Mr. Ernest Blythe, Minister of finance, in introducing1 the Budget, said that lie expected accounts to balance for tlic third year in succession. The estimated expenditure was £25,253,000. Taxation proposals included 4d a gallon on petrol and increases of 2d a.foot on sound-films and •id a pound sugar duty, and the abolition of the tax on racecourse betting.
