Winds.—South-east to north-cast winds, strong north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura and in places reaching gale force; moderate south of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura. Barometer. —Unsteady, but later rising. g eas .—stilt rough north of Farewell fopit and Kaikoura; elsewhere moderate. Tides. —Good north of Kaikoura; poor south of Farewell Spit; moderate elsewhere. Warning signals for south-easterly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria van Diemen, Capo Campbell.^aud Stephens Island. Weather —Still changeable, with, scattered showers north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, but more especially in the eastern and northern portions of the North Island; fine m other districts. Temperatures cool.
