In Lower Hutt Mr. W. T. Strand; was returned unopposed for Mayor, and for the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board Messrs. A. Anderson and A. J. Hobbs wore also returned unopposed. Tho contest for two representatives for Lower Hutt on the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board resulted as follows: — W. T. Strand 1858 AY. G. Meldrum -. : 160S A. F. AY. Jackson .905 For one representative for the combined district of Lower Hutt and Eastbourne the voting was (Dr.)' James Whitton 1527 A. J..Nicholis ......:........ 1027 The poll at Lower Hutt was very small. In 1929 3854 persons voted, while on this occasion, counting the informal votes, only 2373 persons voted on an enlarged roll.
