CROQUET CLOSING DAY
THE WAIMARIE CLUB
The Wahnarie Croquet Club, recently held its official'closing day. Mrs. Harman (president) received ,the guests, among whom were' Sir Alexander and Lady Roberts, Mrs. W. 'Nash, Mcsdaniea Austin, (president), Hendry (treasure^), and. Boocoek (referee)" of the Wellington Croquet Association, and the honorary members of the club. Lady Roberts (patroness)-presented the trophies, tho winners being: A Grade champion, Mrs. Walker,:.who received, .the .Baldwin Cup and Mrs. Harman's trophy; runner-up, Mrs. Mouat (Mrs. Walker's trophy). Intermediate champion, Mrs. Roundhill (Intermediate Cup and Mrs. Parker's trophy); runner-up, Mrs. Parker (Mrs. Vaughan's trophy). B grade champion, Mrs. Murphy (Cameron Cup and Mrs. Cameron's trophy); runner-up,/ Mrs. E. Lees (Mrs. Murphy's trophy)., Hon. Members' Shield, Mrs. Taylor (hou. members' trophy); runnerup, Mrs. Mouat (Mrs. Taylor's trophy). StTand Shield, Mrs. M'Donald (Mrs. Mouat's trophy); runner-up, Mrs. Murphy (Mrs. R. Lee's trophy). Mr. W. S. Judd presented a.beautiful challenge shield in memory of his wife, whn at the timo of her death was a member of the club. This shield is for intermediate and B grade players, and was won by Mrs. Murphy, who received with it Mrs. Harman's trophy. The runnerup was Mrs. Parker, who received Mrs. M'Donald's trophy. Winners of other special.trophies were: A grade handicap for Mrs. Taylor's' trophy, Mrs. Kelly; runner-up, Mrs. Cameron (Mrs. Norris's (trophy). Consolation, Mrs. Hughes (Mrs. August,'senior's, trophy); runner-up, Mrs. Redmond (Mrs. Savage's trophy). Most improved player who had not won a trophy, Mrs. H. Mitchell: (Mrs. W. Lees's trophy). Presentations were made to Mrs. Murphy (retiring hon. treasurer), who has hold office for the past seven years), and to Mrs.'Mouat (club captain). Winners of competitions during the afternoon- were as follows: —Return hoop, Mrs. Alexander; runner-up, Mrs. Glover. Golf, Mrs. -King; runner-up, Mrs. Holland: "French, Mrs. Booeoek; runner-up, .Mrs. Brookes.. Presentations had already been1 made to Mr Hutt, Mr. Edwards, and. his assistants for service rendered during the season A members' final day was held sub-sequently,-and the winners of the various competitions' 'were:—Return hoop, Mrs. Mitchell; golf, Mrs. Exton; French, Mrs. Judd; ladder, Mrs. Hughes; squares, Mrs. W. Lees; angles, Mrs. Mouat.;; hidden numbers, Mesdames Vagg and R. Lees.
