WOMEN CANDIDATES

Speaking at a meeting at Brooklyn on Saturday, Miss Amy Kane, candidate for the City Council, snid that all she could promise was that she would dovoto her time to the study of the. city's problems, especially as they affected', women and children. As a journalist of some years stitmluig she had gained a fair knowledge of public matters and was prepared to use that knowledge in .the interests of the city. Mrs. M'Vicar, also a candidate for the City Council and Hospital Board, said she had already served on both bodies, and on the latter for the past sixteen years. Sho considered women had a contribution to" make to civic affairs. The Hospital Board had received a good deal of criticism, but she had found ithat the Wellington Hospital compared favourably with, big hospitals in the Old Country and Europe. A vote of 'confidence in both candidates was passed.
