OBITUARY

CAPTAIN DESMOND COtfE

(Received 28th April, 11 a.m.) LONDON, 27th April. The death is announced of Captain Desmond. Coke, tho well-known writer, and formerly Vice-Master of Claycsmore School.

Born on sth July, 1879, Captain Coke was tho youngest son of tho late Major-General J. Talbot Coke. He was educated at Shrewsbury and University College, Oxford. On the outbreak of the Great War lie joined the 10th Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, and was invalided out of the Army in May, 1917, suffering from heart, trouble after trench fever. From 1917 to 1920 ho was Sonior Housemaster at Clayesmore, an dfrom 1923 to 1926 ho wns ViceMaster. He was tho author of various novels and skits, also a three-act play, "On« Hour of Life," ' "
