Stewart, former secretary to the Education Board, was made at last evening's meeting ■of parents a.t the Northland School. Mr. Stewart, said Mr. E. D. Good, had been, .a good public servant, and had given good service to the children in the Wellington, education district in'his official "capacity. Congratulatory reference to the-re-,turn, unopposed, of Mr. D. M'Ken2ie as Mayor of Petone was made by all the councillors at' the final meeting, of tho Petone Borough Council last night. It showed that the town had confidence in. him, they said. .< For the assistance given during their terni of office 'councillors thanked the Mayor, fellowrcohncillors, the officers, .and the Pros*. Similar tributes were paid by Mr. M'Kenzie, in reply, and he thanked the people of Petone for the trust they had placed in him. ' The resignation- of Mr. Basil Seymour Stocker, M.A., from- the position of clerk assistant to-the Legislative Council was announced by the Leader of the Council (the Hon. Sir- Thomas Sidey) in the Council this afternoon. Sir Thomas also announced that" the Government had approved the appointment of Mr. C. M. Bothamley, at present second clerk assistant, to fill the vacancy.
