RUGBY LEAGUE
NEW CLUB FORMED
Tile' newly formed City League Club held its first meeting on Tuesday evening at the Wellington Show Buildings. Mr.' J. Leech presided over a good attendance of players and honorary members. Mr. Leech stated that the League game had not gone ahead during the past season, duo to the lack of city playing grounds. However, prospects tin's season were brighter.
The secretary, Mr. W. Davis, said it Vas very pleasing to see a number of old players of the code taking an interest in the game this season. The club had every prospect of a good season.
■The following officers, were elected:— President;:•- Mr. C. J. B. Norwood; vicepresidents, Messrs. K. Thompson, ;H. Hyde,B. Searle, P. Fraser, M.P., R. A. 'Wright^M.P., Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Leslie, G. .Mitchell, T., Oates, L. Jones; J..W. Baird, G. Hart, O. Denz, Sir John and Lady, Luke, S. Wooliford, H. Eaveiiscroft, El Kellow; chairman, Mr. M. Wilson; secretary and treasurer/ Mr. W. M. Davisi; .club captain, Mr. J. Leech; -trustees, Messrs. Davis and Leech; hon. '. auditor, Mr. C. M'AUister; delegates to the Wellington Rugby League, Messrs. Leech and Davis; selectors and coaches, ■Messrs. M. Wilson, K. M'Kcnzie, and captains of' the teams; management committee, Messrs. Wilson, Davis. Leech, M'Kenzie, Merson, Borairct, Searle, and captains of-the. teams. ■ ; It was decided to combine with other League clubs in holding a dance in Wellington to entertain the Southern League teams to play in Wellington on.3rd June. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. W. Corcoran,-and, to the New Zealand League Council for their work in the interests of the game. . ■■-
