A messago from Boston- (Massachusetts) states that "Igloo," Kear-AcV mirnl Byrd's mongrel terrier, died suddenly, while his owner was on a leeturo tour. -....-■ ■'~ ; Tho Rear-Admiral broke his engagements and endeavoured to reach home before the dog's death, but failed'to do so. Ho will arrive in time for a simple burial ceremony, • . "Igloo," as well as being the first dog to fly over the North Polo, had probably tho widest acquaintance among prominent men. throughout the, world of any dog of the present day.
Noteworthy among his adventures was a period of considerable excitement whan-ho was lost for a time on Ashburton station, in New Zealand, when en r.outo for Little America.,
