CIVIC RETRENCHMENT

A drastic scheme of economy involving the retrenchment of several officers j and the rationing of employees in tho , 1 civic service has been decided upon by 1 Eoform aldermen of the City Council, which is' faced with a deficit of £100,000/ with a £1,000,000 loan maturing in London on Ist August. The council has been forced to explore every avenue to reduce expenditure.
