LISTENERS' LEAGUE
LOCAL BRANCH FORMED
A public meeting was held iv Nimmo's \ Concert Hall ■ last evening to form a Wellington branch of the New Zealand Radio Listeners' League. After hearing an address by Mr. H. Booth on the objects of the league, it was unanimously decided to form a'local branch.
■Mr. J..H. Owen presided. It was decided to recommend to the executive" that membership should be limited to licence-holders, not to admit listeners in general, and this .question will be submitted to a conference of branches, to be held, in August.
:■•; The following resolutions wore carried: "That the Government be asked to make an early and definite statement concerning its intention with regard to the future control of radio broadcasting in New Zealand." "That this meeting of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Eadio Listeners' League requests the Government to make provision for a board of control, to be appointed by the Government, and that the New Zealand Eadio Listeners' League be granted representation thereon."
The following officers were elected: President, Mr. J. H. Owen; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. D; A. Aitken, G. Shirtcliffe, T. C. A. Hislop, M. F. Luekie, C J B Norwood, H. D. Bennett, D. J. M'Go wan, A. P. Smith, J. H. 0. Bond, \ S. MaoShano, and Drs. W. S. Robertson and G. F. V. Anson; executive committee, Messrs. T. M. Donovan, II F Wood, A. Comfort, C. W. Charlesworth. C. T. Dalton, R. Leslie Jones, J. Lorimer, C. E. Proctor, C. E. Archibald, and Mrs. Pomeroy; secretary and treasurer, Mr. 0. E. Proctor.
