LUXURIOUS BEAUTY

NEW £80,000 SALON

A dress rehearsal was held of the beauty specialists who will be in attendance at the luxurious new hotel in Park lane when it opens next month (statos tho "Daily Mail"). White silk p_olo shirts and blue shorts were chosen for the massage and exercise departments, Lido pyjama suits of peach silk for the hairdressers, white piquo sailor suits for tho bath attendants, and peach silk frocks for the girls giving face treatments. The decoration of the salon harmonises with these costumes. Tho gymnasium, which is 32ft by 24ft, will be china blue, the hairdrossing department peach with green linen curtains, tho Turkish baths white and apple green, and tho beauty cubicles and restrooms putty and green. All tho paint is washable, and every floor is of maple, so that women may walk about barefooted without fear of splinters. Eighty thousand pounds hayo been spent on building and equipping this salon, which occupies one complete floor of the hotel. Thirty British beauty specialists will bo in attendance, and tho exercises, treatments, and baths, many of them new to this' country, have boen carefully selected and adaptod from salons all over the world. . ■ ; WAX AND FOAM BATHS. .Tho woman in charge of tho exoreiso department has opened beauty parlours in Paris and Chicago, and worked in New York and Germany as well as London. For eight years aho studied, with the late Mmo. Anna Pavlova, and has adapted exorcises from this famous ballet school, which she will give to women, particularly debutantes, to toach poise, balaueo, and grace. Special attontion is being given to various reducing baths—Turkish, wax, and foam. A hundred -per cent, wax or a foam bath may, it is claimed, take as much as four pounds off tho weight.-After any reducing bath comes a stimulating massage with spirit alcohol to 'closo tho pores, or a noedlo douche, for which 0110 sits in a perforated cupboard whilo water spurts through at high pressure. All tho water used will be softened by a super-apparatus on tho roof of the hotel. A red oil, especially manufactured near Biarritz, will be usedfor removing cuticle.-Any ornamentation can bo done on the nails, and pedicure, much in vogue now on account of tho sandals worn with dinner pyjamas, is an important feature. The permanent-j waving champion of the world is one of tho only two men allowed in this sanctum of women.
