News has been iceoived of the'death' at Sydney this month of ' Captain Samuel Kennedy, at the ago of • 68 years. The late Captain Kennedy was well known on the Australian and NewZealand coast, as lie had spent nearly; all his lifo in the surrounding waters. He was the son of Captain Kennedy, of Hobart, and three of his. brothers, ono of whom now survives, -were sea captains. Captain Sam Kennedy served 'with the Tasmaniau Stoam Navigation Company, and later joined tho Union-' Company of- New Zealand." lie 'cominandod tho Kotuka in tho Westport, Grcymouth, Wellington coal trade, and later was in command of tliO'PdtCena and tho.Mapourika.
