iRISING TEMPERATURES

'Ad intense anti-cyclone still covers New Zealand and the Tasman Sea, the central portion of it being over the southern part of the .Tasman Sea and the South Island. To the north relatively low pressure prevails, and the northern edge o£ the anti-cyclone is rather disturbed. At 9 a.m. to-day heavy showers were falling at Norfolk Island, and there were showers also at Capo Maria Van Diemen. During the last twenty-four hours isolated showers have fallen in the Gisborne district, but most parts of the Dominion have experienced fair to.fine, but cold, weather. Moderate to fresh southerly to easterly winds have pervailed over the North Island, winds in the South Island being light and .variable. ' Yesterday's weather in Auckland was fair to cloudy with an easterly breeze. In Wellington the weather was fine and sunny, the wind being a moderate south-easterly. Christchurch had a sunny day, but tho night was dull.'ln Dunedin it was calm and dull;

To-day's forecast is for southorly to easterly winds north of- Greymouth- and Lvfiikoura. Those' in the far nocth may foe strong, but will be moderate elsewhere. Over the rest of the Dominion winds will be variable, with northerlies or westerlies prevailing. A continuance of fair to'fine weather may be expected in most districts, but in northern and southren extremities scattered showers are likely. Temperatures, cool at first, will rise later.
