WEDDINGS

A wedding which interested many friends took place yesterday afternoon at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, when Una Mary, ■ only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Curtis,'of Tinakori road, Wellington, was married to John Douglas, only son of Brigadier-General and Mrs. H. S. Sloman, Wick House, Bournemouth, England; The-Bight Rev. the Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott) officiated, and Mr. Bobert Parker played the "Wedding March" and other appropriate music. Tho church was decorated with beautiful. gold-coloured chrysanthemums, marigolds, and foliage. The bride was escorted by her father, and was in a plain but smartlycut gown of ivory satin, long-sleeved, and with a long train from a pointed waistband. The sfeirt was flared, and fell in soft folds. The old Limerick lace veil was fastened with a wreath of orange blossom, a beautiful moonstone pendant (the gift of the bridegroom's parents) was worn, and a sheaf of pale golden roses carried. The bridesmaids, Misses Marguerite Sloman (England), Una James (Wairarapa), and Marjorie Bose (Wellington), were in artistic frocks of apple green chiffon velvet, cut on long, plain lines, with long sleeves and trains. They wore wreaths of gold leaves and green berries, and carried sheaves of deep golden roses and foliage. Tho best man was Mr. George Tidswell, and tho groomsmen Messrs. Arthur Curtis and Tyndall Harman (Christchurch). Tho wedding reception was held at the home of the bride in Tinakori road, where there were masses of beautiful autumn flowers, chrysanthemums, maple leaves, and zinnias being blended. The bride ?s: tablo was adorned with shaded Iceland poppies and carnations, and the'room was centred With a gold and silver wedding bell. Mrs. Curtis, who received the guests,:' wore a frock.- of wine-coloured georgette with an embossed chiffon. coatee, and a hat to tone. Mrs. Sloman (aunt of the bridegroom), was in black, georgette and a coat to match, trimmed with fur. Her. hat was black also.. When the bride and bridegroom-left fora tour the bride was in an ensemble of navy blue, and a small hat to mach. Other guests included Bishop Sprott, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bose, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Blundell, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Lawson, Miss Corkill, Mrs. J. D. Grey, Miss Barraud, Mrs. Craig, Mrs. and tho Misses' Waters, Mr. and Mrs. James (Masterton), Mrs. Fonton,. Mrs. Lorimer (Christchurch), Miss Stevens, Miss Grosse, Mrs.- Lbngiiet, Miss P. Clayton, Mrs. Fern, Mr.. D. C. Peacock, and the Misses Peacock, and many others. ;
