TEACHER'S CLAIM SUCCEEDS
.Damages amounting to £50 were, awarded by Mr. T. B: ll'Eeil, . 5.M.,. in the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon, to Dorothy Helen Featonby;.B.Comm., in the case in which she proceeded , against H. Amos, a 'director o£ Banks ;Goinmercial College. The plaintiff ■■based ;lier claim on an alleged. wrongful termination of employment, and the Magistrate h,eM that the defendant had not given the plaintiff sufficient' notice that she would not be commencing her- duties at the beginning o£ February, 1931.' He considered that jno notice had been given by the defendant when he interviewed the plaintiff early in October, and the first intimation she had received that her services would not be required was by a letter she received early in January. This was.not the typo of letter one would expect, from the head of a business college. Leaving the letter aside, however > and taking the question whether notice had been given at the conversation in October, he preferred to accept the plaintiff's evidence; pn. this point, and that the arrangement' then' 'come to was that the teachers should take two months' holiday without pay. The plaintiff was entitled to receive her salary for December and January, and judgment was given for: the amount stated, with costs amounting to £6 3s. ■ ' ■ . Mr. D. W. Virtue and Mr. E. H.
